Introduction | Young Members Officer | Links
UNISON is involved in a number of campaigns to improve the working conditions for young members to ensure that they are at less risk from exploitation and have improved pay and career opportunities.
For example, according to research by UNISON, young people are doing jobs similar to adult workers, but for much lower wages. The National Minimum Wage, introduced by the government in 1999, does not cover workers under the age of 18, and provides a lower rate for workers aged 18 to 21. UNISON has long argued that young workers should be covered by the full rate of National Minimum Wage.
The Branch Young Members Officer is Kieron Green. He can be contacted on 01343 812047 or kieron.green1@moray-edunet.gov.uk.
