UNISON represents members across the Scotland and the UK, and to ensure that members can participate within the union there are a number of committees organised at both a UK and Scottish level. Branches generally nominate members to serve at a Scottish Level, who can then in turn be selected to serve at a UK level.
As UNISON represents members in all the areas providing public and voluntary services. Each service group has its own structure within Scotland and at a UK level to address particular issues affecting that service. The majority of Moray UNISON members, including those working for Moray College, The Moray Council, and Grampian Valuation Joint Board, are part of the Local Government Service Group, however a number who work within voluntary sector are members of the Community Service Group.
There are Scottish and UK also committees to organise specific areas of UNISON activity, such as Communication, Health and Safety and Education. In addition there are equalities committees for Women, Black, LGBT and Disabled members, as well as Retired and Young Members, who help tackle discrimination and problems facing those groups of members.
UNISON Members can choose to stand for committees or be delegates from the branch to conferences. If you are interested in doing so please contact the Branch Office for more information. A number of Moray UNISON activists participate in UNISON Scotland committees and groups. This ensures that the views and interests of Moray UNISON members will be well represented at a regional and national level:
