Moray UNISON

18th February 2010

Apologies for the very long absence from blogging - back again now.

'Cuts confusion' seems to be the headline of the day. Some members are still waiting to see if their request for voluntary severance or early retirement has been accepted. The delay in getting to the end of this process has been soul-destryoing for many, particularly those who know they are facing cuts in hours or losing their jobs. UNISON is working to obtain as good an outcome as possible for all our members, but their seems to be a whiff of headless chicken coming from Council HQ.

The left hand rarely knows what the right hand's doing. Council members are demoralised and disgruntled.

At Moray College, a Job Evaluation process is on the go. Let's hope it's a lot less painful than the Council one and with a good outcome for all staff.

This is a painful time for workers in the public sector with worse likely to come, whichever party wins the next general election. David Cameron wants us all to start co-operatives - hmm!!!
