Response to council management restructuring (posted 23 February 2011)

Moray UNISON expresses concern over Council management restructuring proposals.

Council Budget Cuts

Cuts to services will damage our communities for years to come - there is a Better Way.

There is a Better Way

There is a Better Way is a campaign by the STUC to show people that the only sustainable response to the financial crisis is to promote growth and ensure fairness through creating jobs and protecting services, through fair taxation and a living wage.

Moray UNISON represents members employed within public, voluntary and community services throughout Moray.

Members are represented within Moray Council, VAM, Moray College, Grampian Joint Valuation Board, Turning Point Scotland, Action for Children, as well as other organisations within the voluntary and community sectors including private nursing homes, playgroups and housing associations.

Moray UNISON is run by a branch committee and supported by skilled staff, locally, regionally and nationally. As well as supporting members individually we are involved in a number of wider campaigns on issues including Designing Better Services (DBS) and Council Budget Cuts.

If you have a problem, talk to your local steward. If they can't handle the problem on their own, they can talk to other branch officers or full-time union experts on your behalf.

Please visit the who's who section for a directory of stewards/office.

We are always looking for people who feel they can contribute to the branch and to help other members. This could be a regular commitment or just the occasional hour or so. We also provide training courses and support for our stewards and officers. Contact the Branch Secretary or any other Branch Officer/Steward if you would like to find out more or why not visit our recruitment campaign page.

We are only as strong as our members.
